Abstract: This research evaluates the effectiveness of assessment methods in technical schools in Nigeria, examining the alignment, validity, and reliability of assessment practices in measuring student learning and achievement in vocational and technical education programs. Effective assessment is critical for providing feedback, evaluating learning outcomes, and ensuring program quality and accountability in technical education. The study aims to (1) analyze current assessment methods used in technical schools and their alignment with learning objectives and industry standards, (2) assess perceptions and experiences of educators and students regarding assessment effectiveness and fairness, and (3) propose recommendations for enhancing assessment practices to improve educational quality and support student success in technical schools. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from educators, students, and assessment specialists. A sample size of 400 participants will be chosen through purposive sampling to represent technical school faculty, students, and assessment experts in Kaduna State. Case studies will examine innovative assessment approaches and their impact on learning outcomes and instructional practices. Findings indicated diverse assessment practices, including practical exams, portfolio assessments, and industry certifications, with challenges such as assessment bias and standardization issues. Recommendations include promoting assessment literacy among educators, adopting diverse assessment methods, and integrating continuous feedback mechanisms to enhance assessment validity and promote student achievement in technical education.
